Geo Popup

Overview

The Geo Popup service allows you to dynamically display a lightbox popup on your website based on a visitor’s location. The popup can contain any form of HTML created using our WYSIWYG or raw code editor.

Geo Popups are specifically useful for dynamically alerting a visitor with location dependent information such as deals and offers.

The Geo Popup service is free to use however a link to Geolify will appear below the popup.

To remove the branding link below the popup, impressions will need to be purchased.

Start

The START panel contains important setup details of your website

Name

An optional name to identify the Geo Popup

Short Description

An optional description for the Geo Popup

Geo Popup Status

If this option is ON, the entire popup setup will be active.

If this option is OFF, the entire geo popup setup including the default popup will be inactive

Use this option to easily turn OFF the entire geo popup service rather than removing the code from your website each time you want to disable the service.

Landing URL

The URL of your website where the geo popups will be shown. The URL must include http: or https: depending on if you have an SSL certificate.

Display On All Pages

If this option is ON, then the URL and all including subpages will have the popups active.

To display the popups on all pages of your website, the Landing URL should be your main domain and the Display On ALL Pages option should be ON.

If this option is OFF, the popups will only be shown on the landing URL

Cookie Expiry (Hours)

The cookie expiry feature allows you to prevent the popups from repeatedly showing to visitors if they revisit your website or while browsing other pages of your website.

The cookie expiry time set in hours will determine how many hours will need to pass before the popup will be re-shown to the visitor.

You can use decimals such as 0.01 hours to set the cookie time to be less than an hour.

There is no upper limit on the number of hours you can se.

Default Geo Popup

The default geo popup can be used to display a default popup to visitors if they do not match any location segment. It can be turned OFF if not required.

ON-OFF

If this option is ON, the default geo popup will be active.

If this option is OFF, the default geo popup will be inactive.

Height (px)

The height in pixels of the default popup.

Width (px)

The width in pixels of the default popup.

Background Color

Optional background color of the default popup in hex e.g. #CCCCCC

Background Image URL

Optional background image of the default popup. Must enter URL of image.

Popup Content

The popup content editor provided is a WYSIWYG and raw HTML editor to create a popup. To access and edit raw HTML, click on the <> button which can be found on the top left corner of the editor.

Features of the popup content editor

  1. Create rich styled text
  2. Add images, links, videos, tables, indents, etc
  3. Add any raw HTML and CSS inline styles

Geo Popup  1,2,3….

These Geo Popup panels allow you to configure popup – location pairs. You can add unlimited number of geo popups by clicking the ‘+ Popup’ button at the bottom of the setup page.

ON-OFF

If this option is ON, the geo popup will be active.

If this option is OFF, the geo popup will be inactive.

Location Selector

The location selector allows you to include or exclude countries, states and cities to create a location segment.

To include a location, select its type ‘country, state or city’, select ‘Equal To’, then type the country, state or city name  in the input field.

When entering a name, start typing and the country, state or city names will appear automatically in a drop down list from which you can select.

Once selected, click ‘Add’ to enter it into the location segment.

To exclude a location, simply select ‘Not Equal To’ instead using the procedure above.

Locations

The locations box shows the included and excluded locations that creates the targeted location segment.

Included locations are shown by a ‘+’ and excluded locations are shown by a ‘-‘.

See location segmentation for more information on how to create a targeted segment.

To remove a location, select the location and click ‘Remove’.

You can also import locations from a csv file using the ‘Import’ button. See location segmentation for more information on how to import.

Height (px)

The height in pixels of the popup.

Width (px)

The width in pixels of the popup.

Background Color

Optional background color of the popup in hex e.g. #CCCCCC

Background Image URL

Optional background image of the popup. Must enter URL of image.

Code

The Code panel provides the required JavaScript snippets to paste into your website.

Geo Popup Code (For non SSL domains)

If you website is not SSL protected you can use this script. Paste the script in between your website’s HTML HEAD tags.

Testing

The testing panel allows simulation of a location to allow you to test how each geo popup will look on your website.

Test Mode

Turn ON or OFF test mode using this option.

If this option is ON, test mode will be active and the visitor location will be simulated.

If this option is OFF, test mode will be inactive and the visitor location will be determined using IP address of the visitor

IMPORTANT: Remember to turn test mode OFF once testing is complete or else visitor IP to location will not work and all visitors will have a location equal to the simulated location.

Test Country

Country name to be simulated. Start typing a country name and select a matching name from the drop down. This field can be left blank if country simulation is not required.

Test State

State name to be simulated. Start typing a state name and select a matching name from the drop down. This field can be left blank if state simulation is not required.

Test City

City name to be simulated. Start typing a city name and select a matching name from the drop down. This field can be left blank if city simulation is not required.

Buttons

+ Popup

This button will create an additional Geo Popup. You can create unlimited number of Geo Popups.

- Popup

This button removes the last created Geo Popup.

Save

This button will save the Geo Popup setup for later use.

Exit

This button will exit the setup without saving.
