Why change tracking matters
- Being dropped from an AI answer usually precedes a traffic drop by 7-14 days - you need to know the day it happens, not the week.
- A rival brand getting added is the earliest signal that they shipped a piece of content or schema that moved them up in the assistant's ranking.
- Reorderings - where the same brands appear but in a new order - are the leading indicator of shifting relative authority.
