How it works
The analyzer runs four standard readability metrics on your text: Flesch Reading Ease (higher = easier), Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level (US school grade), average words per sentence, and our composite clarity score (0-100) tuned for AI extractability rather than general readability.
Target numbers
- Flesch Reading Ease: 55-70 - sweet spot for editorial B2B content.
- Grade level: 8-11 - accessible but not dumbed down.
- Avg words/sentence: 14-19 - long enough to carry a claim, short enough to lift into an answer card.
- Clarity score: 75+ - aim here for maximum citation lift.
How to raise clarity
Break 30+ word sentences in half. Cut adverbs. Move the claim to the front of the sentence. Use active voice. Replace jargon with plain nouns the first time you introduce a term.
