Why source ranking
- Assistants don't cite everything in the pool - they cite the top 3-5, then rotate. Knowing your rank is the difference between 'cited' and 'invisible'.
- Moving from rank 6 to rank 3 produces a bigger traffic lift than publishing 20 new articles - source ranking has the highest leverage of any GEO metric.
- Rank disagreement across assistants is a gift: if Claude ranks you 2 and Gemini ranks you 8, the Gemini-specific signal is usually a missing Knowledge Graph entry.
